The Joy of My Coffee

The JOY of MY COFFEE

The Joy of My Coffee

Coffee, a joy ? Yes it is, and quite a bit at that

Coffee, it sure does make me happy as I go for one each morning, day after day

Coffee, it starts my day right, warm, comforting, and tatsy. My Coffee, it’s always there

Yes coffee sure does bring much joy, more than almost anything I can think of, it’s my rock … I love it, my hot cup of brew

Coffee

I leave my house each day and make my way .. I make my way to the cafe, and you guessed it, my morning cup of Joe, coffee …

I read the paper, write, surf the net, all along withthat cup, cup of coffee, it sure does bring me joy and makes me happy, my morning cup of coffee, Java, or Joe

“I want Coffee Flavored FUCKING COFFEE !!! “

DENNIS on COFFEE
Coffee doesn’t need a menu, it needs a cup! That’s all it needs! Maybe a saucer underneath the cup- that’s it!

DENNIS on STARBUCKS
Did I miss a fucking meeting with the coffee? You can get every other flavor except COFFEE FLAVORED COFFEE! They got mochaccino, they’ve got chococcino, frapaccino, capaccino, rapaccino, Al Pacino, WHAT THE FUCK!

DUNKIN DONUTS
When I was a kid, Dunkin’ Donuts had two things: coffee and donuts, and that was it! You took the donut, dunked it in the coffee, thus the fucking title of the place!

Morning Coffee & Newspaper

.
My Sunday morn Coffee?  I love it so! There’s nothing quite like it, and it’s one of my best moments of the week, most times “the Best.” Yes it is. And not for just me but millions I’m quite sure. If you work 6 days a week as I, or you work five, that Sunday morn coffee just can’t be beat. Most might have it down at the kitchen table. The coffee pot brews, you retrieve the Sunday Paper and settle in. Settle in with that good ol friend, your morning cup of Joe. You chit chat with the husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, whoever, and sip your beloved Brew, your morning cup of Joe, coffee. Is it Brazilian, African, Colombian  Jamaican, or Sumatran? No matter, it’s your favorite and it brings you much joy at just a pintence of a cost. Most of us drink good ol regular American Coffee, regular, Black, with milk and sugar, just milk no sugar, Milk, Cream, Half & Half, there’s a number of ways to enjoy, your morning cup of coffee.
For me, my morning cup is never in my house as it is with most. No, I always go to the cafe for my beloved cup. I’ve been doing so for almost 30 years now. Nothing wrong with having it at home, but for me, I always have it out, at one of my local cafes. One is American (Regular Cup of Joe) the other Italian (Espresso or Cappuccino). For the past few days, I go to the American Bakery/Cafe more often. I usually have a little breakfast at home before I go out for my morning brew. My coffee is reserved for the cafe. I do this for two reasons, never having coffee at home. Number one, after I take a shower, I have my breakfast and put on my clothes, I just want to get out of the house and into the city, (New York). Two, I only have my coffee at the cafe because to me it makes it more special this way. And it’s not just about the coffee, it’s the whole total esperience of it all. I have my coffee, yes, but I’m among others. There are always the counter girls at the cafe who are all quite lovely. A nice morning with my cup of Joe, perhaps a bit of chit-chat with the girls and they’re always so sweet. Usually I have friends there, so there’s a bit of conversation with them, sipping my regular coffee, “Milk No Sugar.” I read, I write, I listen to the music, sip, love, and enjoy my coffee, that very simple and one of lifes “Great Pleasures,” the morning coffee. It cost very little, and especially if you compare it to the outrageous price of cocktails these days, that with the price of the drink $14-$17, and tip, can end up near $20.00 per. I love a good cocktail, but not at these prices. My morning cup of coffee has superior value compared to the current days cocktail prices in New York. It’s sad really.
Yes, I usually see friends, have a good chat, then it’s into the papers, The Times, Post, The Daily News, whatever is lying around the cafe. Guess what, it’s free. I can go on my computer and surf the net. I’ll get any news or info I could possibly want. If I don’t like the music playing at the cafe, which is usually good, but can occasionally be quite bad, I’ll just plug in my ear-plugs, go to Youtube, and watch a Rolling Stones video. Listen too, of course. Or I’ll just plug into my iPod Touch and listen to my great Musical Library. No Crap Rap of course, just good ol Classic Rock, R&B, and “Frank” Sinatra that is!
I write, I read, I load up news from the Huffington Post on my iPod to read on the train (Subway) later, I see friends, sometime make new ones, sip my Coffee, I enjoy, that’s my Sunday morning Coffee, or any day of the week for that matter. My morning Coffee, “I just Love It.”

The Worlds Coolest Restaurant

Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 7.13.56 PM

at HARRY’S BAR  … VENICE, ITALY

The World’s Coolest Restaurant? Why, it’s Harry’s Bar,

Venice of course. Without a doubt. There is no contest for any to compete. Well many will beg to differ, but I know better, and better than most. No Brag, Just Fact! Let me tell you why.
If you are in any of the Great Renowned Cities of the World, cities such as; New York, Paris, Rome, Bangkok, Tokyo, London,
Hong Kong, wherever. There will in all these cities be a number of restaurants where the In-Crowd, the Jet-Set, Those in The Know, the Movers-and-Shakers of the World will go to. There are usually at least 6 to 12 restaurants for those in the know to go to. For example, if you are in my City, New York and you are one of these people, “Those In the Know,” you might go to any one of these restaurants. right now in the year 2011 these restaurants would be; Minetta Tavern, Bar Pitti, The Waverly Inn, Pastis, Momofuku Ssam, The Standard Grill, John Dory at The Ace Hotel, and at least 6 others. Same goes for LA, London, Paris, Rome, and so-on.
In Venice there are many restaurants, but really just one more or less that “Everyone Who is Anyone” will go when in town. One, that one is “Harry’s Bar.” No other restaurant in the World quite like it. If you are of the Jet Set, The In Crow, those “In-The-Know,” you’ll know one thing for sure, when you go to Harry’s Bar you will be amongst the all of
The “in Crowd” will be there and nowhere else. Well this is a bit of an exaggeration to make a point, but this point is true 85% of the time.
And of the place, Harry’s Bar, Venice. And i keep saying Harry’s bar Venice, for it is thee only one, but there are many others around the World with the same name. There is only one Great “Harry’s Bar” and that is Harry’s Bar, Venice at the Vaporetto stop of San Marco.
Yes, and of Harry’s. The restaurant is Wonderful. It has a beautiful casual elegance in the decor. The place is always filled with the “Beautiful People,” the service is great, and the food Fabulous. Though at a price. Harry’s bar is very expensive. For some this is of no consequence, but if it is expensive for you, it is definitely worth a splurge. The place is awesome. After-All, they invented the “Bellini” Cocktail here. And
Beef Carpaccio as well.
Over the years, everyone and everyone has passed through the doors; Kings, Queens, Presidents, Prime Ministers,
Rock Stars, Movie Stars, you name it. Too many to name, never-the-less, I will name some names; Ernest Hemingway, Grace Kelly, Onassis, Sir Winston Churchill, Humphrey Bogart, Mick Jagger, George Clooney, Jude Law, Gwyneth Palthrow and on-and-on. And you if you go, of course.
If you go to Harry’s Bar, you will Love it. The place is filled with quite a exciting energy. It’s a experience you’ll always remember. So, do remember, The World’s Coolest restaurnat, Harry’s Bar, Venice that is.

Rocche Dell Annunziata 1990

There was another great winemaker dinner at La Pizza Fresca in New York last night.     La Pizza Fresca is located on 13 East 20th Street in New York ‘s Gramercy Park .. The place has quite a uniqueness about it .. It’s a restaurant that’s makes some of the best Pizza in all of New York .. Or is it a Pizzeria? Well let’s just say it’s a Pizzeria / Restaurant, OK? Yes that’s what it is. And the Pizza, this restaurant is one of the few that’s certified as Vera Pizza Npolteana which is an organization that grades and certifies Pizzerias that meet the high standards of the best porperly made Naapoletan Pizza. La Pizza Fresca is one of only 1,000 Pizzerias in the world to be Vera Pizza Napoletan certified, nad just 1 of 100 in the United States ..

Well, anyway la Pizza Fresca makes some great Pizza. They also have a full menu of Antipasti, Pasta, Meat, Fish, and Poultry and they have one great wine list. Besides the great Pizza, La Pizza Fesca is realy into wine, and is in fact one of the top Italian Wine focused restaurants in New York. They have a great wine list that is very extensive and world class. And like they did last night that have many great wine dinners each year.

The wine dinner I attended this night was hosted by Elisa Scavino who is one of Enrico Scavino ‘s two daughters working with him in the family wine business in Peidmont. Well the dinner was awesome, we started with Beef Carpacio, followed by some awesome Pizza, Pizza Funghi (Mushrooms) and Pizza Bianco with Fontina Cheese, Black truffles, and Prosciutto. The Pizza was amazing. We drank Paolo Scavino Barbera and Nebbiolo Langhe with the Carpacio, and ewere quite fortunate to have a couple of Paolo Scavino ‘s fabulous Barolo with the Pizza .. Yes, with the Pizza we drank Scavino’s Barolo Carobric 2000 . This wine was phenominal. It was in perfect balance, full of great fruit and earthy flavors of Truffle and Mushrooms. You couldn’t ask more from a great Barolo from one of the great Barolo vintages of all-time in the 2000 .. Lucky we were at the dinner to follow this great Barolo with Scavino’s Barolo Bric del Fiasc 1998, 2000, and 2010 . Needless to say, they were all great, and drinking quite nicely.

We were then treated to an amaing line-up of an amazing 3 Vintage Vertical Tatsing of Paolo Scavino ‘s Barolo Reserva Rocche dell’ Annunziata. The vintages we had were 3 of the greatest Barolo vintages of all-time in the 1990, 2000, and 2001 … Wow what a treat?

It was a great night of socializing, drinking great Barolo accompanied with the awesome Pizza, Pasta, and Bue al Barolo (Beef Briased in Barolo Wine) and our gracious host Alisa Scavino talking about all the great winew we were drinking and of the histroy of the family’s winery founded by her grandfather Lorenzo Scavino. Bravo Elisa!

The Scavino Family

Paolo Scavino is an historical winery in the Barolo region. It was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto from Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Farming has always been a family tradition and passion.

Enrico Scavino together with the daughters Enrica and Elisa, fourth generation, run the family Estate. He started to work full time in the winery in 1951 when he was 10 years old. A young winemaker who inherited the passion and devotion for the land he belongs to. Through over 60 years of experience his focus has been to invest on important cru of Nebbiolo to show the uniqueness of each terroir.

Their work is inspired by the love and respect they have for their territory and they pursue purity of expression, complexity and elegance for their wines from the three local grapes Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo.

These values and culture have been carried on and never changed.
